The Last Emperor by Noma Bar
£100.00Playful, smart and with a whole load of negative space and minimalism, Noma Bar creates work that speaks volumes without using any words and is instantly recognisable the world over.
The Israel-born graphic designer and illustrator has produced illustrations for publications such as The Guardian and New York Times and for book covers for Don DeLillo and Haruki Murakami. He's also created ad campaigns for Google, Sony and Nike. "I always try to say more with less," he says, "and communicate complex ideas by using minimal visual elements."
For Creative Boom, Noma has created The Last Emperor – an exclusive artwork inspired after he read an article that stated 98% of emperor penguin colonies could be extinct by 2100. "As we are all aware of the global warming issues, I thought about creating an image that brings a symbolic commitment between humans and nature," Noma explains. "A handshake between two sides that forms a penguin and also a human hand that takes care of him."
